Opening of the temporary exhibition "Wings of Eternity"
2025-03-14
On March 14, 2025, at 14:00, the grand opening of the unique Wings of Eternity exhibition took place in the Elephant Hall of the Mir Castle. This event was the result of a joint project of the Mir Castle Complex Museum and the Museum of the History and Culture of Jews of Belarus under the Union of Belarusian Jewish Public Associations and Communities.
The opening ceremony was attended by Alexander Nelyubov, director of the Museum of the History and Culture of Jews of Belarus, coordinator of museum and exhibition activities of the Union of Belarusian Jewish Public Associations and Communities, curator of the exhibition, who shared his special thoughts on the significance of this exhibition. The exhibition reveals the entire cycle of Jewish life – from birth to death – through the tallit (prayer veil) as an element of traditional ritual clothing. Each exhibit tells a unique story of its owner, emphasizing the importance of the talith as a symbol of faith and traditions.
The temporary exhibition presents talents from the collection of the Museum of the History and Culture of Jews of Belarus, the funds of the Mir Castle Complex Museum, the Emuna Jewish cultural community, the Chabad Synagogue and private collections. The exhibition was also decorated with paintings by the famous Belarusian artist Yuri Krupenkov, dedicated to the lost world of Jewish towns where different nationalities and faiths coexisted in harmony.
The musical design of the event became a real decoration of the opening. The Folk Ensemble of Jewish Music "Shalom" (directed by Mikhail Dviliansky) performed touching works such as "Hasidic Dance", "Klezmer freilechs", "Etude by Alexander Scriabin" and "Jewish Dance". This created an incredibly atmospheric accompaniment that completely immersed the guests in the culture and traditions of the Jewish people.
Visitors of the exhibition were able to learn more about the history of the Jewish community of Belarus through the exhibits and photographs, discovering both well-known and rare aspects of Jewish life and culture.
The temporary exhibition "Wings of Eternity" will be open until April 11, 2025. Admission is by ticket to the museum.
