«Mir is a theater»


In 2019, the International Council of Museums (ICOM) declared the theme of the international day of museums: “Museums as the centers of culture: the future of tradition”. The Mir Castle Complex joined this action and tried to demonstrate its capabilities as a center of culture, where representatives of creative professions was able to implement joint projects, and visitors shared their impressions and emotions.

The events in Mir Castle began at 12.00 p.m. with solemn cannon shots in the honor of «Mir Banner».

At 3.15 p.m. in the Elephant Hall the theater performance «From Rome to Mir» took place – an artistic fantasy on the acquaintance of Prince Nikolai Radzivil The Orphan and Italian architect Jan Maria Bernardoni. During the performance, viewers saw the revived art of folk theater, heard medieval motifs, and everyone was surprised by the heroes at the end.

From folk theater to professional one. At 4.00 p.m. in the courtyard of the castle, students of the Belarusian State Academy of Arts presented a theatrical production of «Christ landed in Grodno» according to V. Korotkevich.
